About Me

Country Shots Photography is owned and run by Steve Davis

Steve was trained in graphics and photography at Mathew Boulton Technical College and Birmingham University. Steve has been involved in photography printing and imaging media since the 1970`s and began taking, developing and processing photographs long before the dawn of the DSLR let alone a camera with a telephone attached! He still misses his regular fix of developing fluid!

He has spent time in both commercial and editorial photography for a range of clients covering all manner of subjects from Motorsports to industrial fasteners but his passion has always been for dogs, horses and fieldsports. Since he eventually succumbed (kicking and screaming to remain in his beloved dark room with all those wonderful chemicals) purchasing his first digital camera, a Canon D30 (with a whopping 3 mp) has spent more and more time honing his skills and techniques in getting the best out them  and consequently the subjects that he photographs.  Whilst classically trained in the dark arts of film photography Steve has kept up to speed with the latest digital equipment and processing techniques and has taken B Tech courses in both digital photography and the full Adobe Creative Suite of post production software

Steve is an official photographer for The Kennel Club Working Gundog Group, Key photographer for English Springer Spaniel Championships, Cocker Spaniel Championships and HPR Championships, Kennel Club Gundog Handler Training Days and Field Trials and The Gamefair. And is photographer in residence for Byrds Retreat Shoot, Wrencourt Gundog Training and Worcestershire Gundog Society

Dog Photography

Steve has spent many years developing and refining his skill at capturing gun dogs working in the field and in field trials on behalf of the Kennel Club, various gundog clubs, breeders and trainers along with many private clients, and specialises in capturing your dog in action in the field - working hard for their handlers.

Steve is happy to travel to a location of your choice in the Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and West Midlands area, anywhere that you and your dogs are happiest to work.

The session will last up to approximately two hours; during the session Steve will aim to capture a variety of images of your dog in action as well as some static portraits.

And its not just for gundogs Steve will photograph any breed, working or not, on the same basis.

And if,as likely as not, that your dog is part of the family then why not get them all involved too? Nothing says happy family and makes a great wall art lifetime memento than a happy family portrait surrounded by you faithful furry friends in the great British countryside!

If you would like Steve to photograph your faithful friend please do get in touch.

Shoot Day Portfolios

My approach to creating a photo portfolio of your days shooting is to capture the essence of the days proceedings and as much action as possible in a documentary style from the guns arrival, breakfast, peg numbering, each and every drive, the refreshment break and lunch, every gun and their dog in action right through to the last bird picked in a discrete and professional manner ensuring that I cause no disturbance to the shoot.

By using a range of Canon pro cameras and L series lenses and altering my compositions and shooting positions throughout the day I hope to create a wide range of varying shots to add interest to the final portfolio and should result in series of unposed, natural and realistic photographs giving you a memorable record that does justice to  your days shooting.

All the images will be available to view in your very own confidential password protected online album within my website where you and your guns can browse the images at anytime and are able to purchase individual framed prints, canvas or acrylic wall art, or purchase a photo book containing a selection of the days favourite images.

Equine Photography

Along with his passion for dogs Steve is equally at home creating bespoke equine portraiture and is particularly drawn to all forms of carriage driving whether its the high speed thrills of intense close quarter scurry driving in the ring or out in the mud and mayhem of the Marathon course as a key photographer for both The Arena Driving Challenge with British Scurry & Trials Driving and regional and National championships on behalf of British Carriagedriving.
